- PROGRAMME POLICY OFFICER
UN-WFP Islamabad is now on the lookout for a Programme Policy Officer to join their team.
JOB Description: Programme Policy Officer
1. Contribute to the development of concepts for school-based programmes, projects, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider WFP and government programme and policies.
2. Demonstrate a sound understanding of Government policies and budgeting processes, and facilitate WFP’s support for the development of strategies, policies and programmes to support government efforts to increase enrollment and attendance and reduce hunger among schoolchildren including support to develop PC-I/PC-II (s).
3. Provide technical advice and mobilize technical expertise vis-à-vis WFP’s programmes and policy issues including the choice of objectives, activities, transfer modalities and the deployment and testing of innovative approaches.
4. Contribute to building and sustaining effective collaborative relationships with appropriate Government departments and other relevant stakeholders in the areas of school-based programmes with components of social protection, school health and nutrition, and gender transformation.
5. Represent WFP in relevant technical forums including UNSCDF outcome groups, for advocacy and sharing information that may enhance collaboration with governmentagencies and build support for WFP work.
6. Support WFP in positioning school-based programmes as a social protection mechanism for the provincial and national governments to achieve wider education, nutrition and poverty reduction objectives.
7. Contribute to the preparation of funding proposals, participate in donor engagement and ensure accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
8. Help to identify capacity gaps for WFP staff and government counterparts and then develop a capacity development strategy and plan for addressing those gaps.
