Vacant Positions: Food Security / Livelihood Officer

Currently, the SIF France International Tharparkar is searching for candidate for their vacant position i.e.  Food Security / Livelihood Officer to join their team

JOB Description: Food Security / Livelihood Officer

Objective 1: Ensure Smooth Implementation of FSL interventions in different Projects Activities:

  • Conduct the implementation and monitoring of all FSL activities, at Base level, as laid out in the plan of action.
  • Organize and support the running of FSL activities.
  • Support beneficiary’s identification and selection processes together with project officer and Base Livelihoods Teams.
  • Active participation to field assessments (logistic organization, identification of needs, monitoring).
  • Develop the monthly situation analysis report on FSL.
  • Contribute to the identification of potential suppliers for project intervention related to FSL.
  • Participate and support filed staff in the distribution process.
  • Conduct training and sensitization of session for beneficiaries of FSL activities and other stakeholders.
  • Assist Program Base Manager in the preparation of all documents and forms necessary for the implementation of FSL interventions.
  • To ensure the quality and quantity of material provided to beneficiaries.
  • To develop the quality of IEC material as per project requirement.
  • Develop stakeholders mapping and conduct joint field monitoring.
  • To organize capacity building events of stakeholders and staff.

Objective 2: Coordination Activities:

  • Coordinate activities with local authorities at the tahseel, district and division level, international community members, other implementing actors and partners at the local level.
  • Keep close coordination with Community leaders and main stakeholders.
  • Maintain coordination and appropriate information sharing and communication lines with implementing partner and stakeholders at field level to avoid duplication and maximize synergies.
  • Regularly monitor project activities and provide timely inputs and feedback to the Program Base Manager.

Objective 3: Reporting Activities:

  • Timely submission of weekly and monthly progress updates. Compile and maintain proper record keeping of Project activities in hard files and soft databases.
  • Responsible to maintain record of internal and external communication including emails, letter, purchase requisitions and other relevant documents.
  • Contribute to data entry, as needed.

This list is not limited; the employee may be required to perform any other task necessary and compatible with its functions.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • University degree (Master in Agriculture) or similar is required.
  • At least 3 years’ relevant work experience in FSL project implementations with good knowledge of DRR and Climate Change adaptation strategies related to FSL particularly in drought scenarios.
  • At least two years’ relevant experience in an emergency context.
  • Experience in international development and/or non-profit organizations.
  • Experience in writing reports in English.
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal); fluency in English, Sindhi & Urdu; knowledge of Local/Thari/Dhatiki language is an asset.
  • Good computer skills; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database.

View as an asset:

  • Experience in conducting Rapid Need Assessments, socio-economic surveys, baseline and end line assessments, KAP assessments, and evaluations as an internal auditor or external consultant.
  • Good knowledge of PRA tools, Project management cycle, SDGs, SPHERE standards, CHS, Humanitarian Principles etc.
  • Knowledge of Tharparkar context.

  • Very good communication skills and team player, as well as ability to work individually.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability is strongly desire.
  • Ability to liaise with national authorities, NGO’s and other agencies.
  • Flexibility and adaptability are required.
  • Be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to deal with people at all levels with tact and diplomacy.
  • Good Team player and motivated to work in remote and uncertain environment respecting standard operating procedures as devised and instructed.
  • Be culturally sensitive and possess good interpersonal skills.
