JOB Description: Gender Officer

The Gender Officer leads “Leave no one behind” agendas to be integrated into IRP’s Humanitarian and development programming, and ensures commitments towards Core Humanitarian Standards, inclusion Charter and Gender and Protection Standards at Field office level in Balochistan. Responsible for promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment within an organization by designing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on programs and ensuring that gender considerations are integrated into all aspects including conducting gender analysis, training staff on gender sensitivity, and collaborating with stakeholders to identify and address gender-based challenges.

Technical:

  • Work closely with Area Programme Manager, and Sector Specialists to support CHS commitments and accountability components addressed in IR response projects.
  • Support the development and delivery of gender, disability-inclusive, and accountable Humanitarian projects/programmes under the protection mainstreaming umbrella.
  • Support P&I Specialist for networking with key external stakeholders to find areas of collaboration, best practice, innovation, knowledge sharing, and partnerships.
  • Identify training needs and build the capacity of IR local staff on gender, disability inclusion, and protection.
  • Ensure SADD data collection mechanisms are in place and data is collected and analyzed periodically
  • Conduct field-level conflict sensitivity analysis exercises with relevant stakeholders and ensure IR programmes “Do no harm” in their communities.
  • Ensure gender, age, and diversity analysis is done and updated regularly to respond to beneficiaries’ needs.
  • Support on gender, disability inclusion, and protection for new bids and proposals to ensure it is weaved into the planning phase.
  • Proactively exchange learning and synergy with all involved stakeholders.
  • Draft relevant sections of reports required for donors and management.
  • Collaborate with Monitoring and Evaluation personnel for timely evaluation of projects
  • Participate and influence external platforms on disability, protection, and inclusivity

Operational:

  • Preparation of weekly/monthly work plans by ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks in the stipulated time period.
  • Maintenance of hard records that includes field visit reports, meeting minutes, data, records & other documentation.
  • Close coordination with line manager for effective implantation of gender, protection, and inclusion initiatives.

Organizational:

  • Ensure compliance with IR’s policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities.
  • In-depth understanding of IR values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities.
  • Abide by the IR zero-tolerance policy towards harassment, bullying, violence, bribery & corruption through sensitization/empowerment of communities on coping mechanisms so that they can raise voices as & when feel inappropriate.
  • Thorough knowledge of IR strategic priorities to ensure effective implementation with future sustainability.
  • Assist in the identification & documentation of organizational successes for showcasing IR work
  • Focused efforts to ensure rights holders, (including people with disability, older people, minorities, women, and children) communities, vendors, interns, volunteers and   etc. in consultation & implementation of project activities at the ground.
  • Strengthen mechanism to Influence the decision makers through communities to pay attention to DRR planning, give voice to suffering and the excluded, and highlight the protection needs of people.
  • Participation and facilitation in the implementation of IR seasonal programmes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the organizational values & principles, vision, and mission as well as commitment to its PSEAH (preventing sexual exploitation abuse, and harassment) protocols.
