Strengthening Participatory Organization NGO Sukkur is now searching for a Community Engagement Officer to enroll in their crew.
JOB Description: Community Engagement Officer
Community engagement officer will be responsible to conduct district-level community engagement activities and increase the participation of communities and CSOs with stakeholders, and other community members.
- Conduct a thorough assessment of the nutrition-related needs and challenges within the target communities in Sindh. This assessment should take into account cultural, social, and economic factors that may influence nutrition practices.
- Work closely with local communities to create awareness about nutrition issues, mobilize support, and encourage active participation in nutrition-related activities and programs.
- Identify and provide capacity-building support to community leaders and representatives, empowering them to become advocates for improved nutrition practices within their communities.
- Conduct sensitization campaigns to promote nutrition education, raise awareness about the importance of a balanced diet, and address common misconceptions related to nutrition.
- Collaborate with CSOs and community-based organizations to design, implement, and monitor nutrition programs that are responsive to the specific needs of the community.
- Develop and implement behavior change communication strategies to encourage the adoption of healthy nutrition practices and lifestyles within the community.
- Organize community meetings, workshops, and focus group discussions to engage community members in the project’s activities, gather feedback, and ensure their active involvement in decision-making processes.
- Provide support to CSOs in their efforts to improve nutrition outcomes, including facilitating access to resources, technical assistance, and networking opportunities.
- Promote gender equality and social inclusion by ensuring that nutrition initiatives are inclusive and address the unique needs of different groups within the community.
- Facilitate community-led advocacy initiatives to raise awareness about nutrition-related issues and demand better nutrition services and programs from relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the project team to monitor the progress of community engagement activities, gather feedback, and evaluate the impact of the interventions.
- Promote knowledge sharing and learning within the community, ensuring that best practices and success stories are documented and shared with relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with government agencies, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure that community voices and needs are taken into account in nutrition policy and program development.
- Be mindful of potential conflicts or sensitivities within the community and take measures to address them sensitively and proactively.
Support CSOs and communities in mobilizing resources to sustain nutrition initiatives beyond the project’s timeline.
Undertakes any other task assigned by the supervisor.
