- PHARMACIST
Presently, the Action Against Hunger Quetta is on the lookout for suitable candidates for their vacant position i.e. Pharmacist to join their team.
JOB Description: Pharmacist
Mission 1: Supporting the Nut and Health and Logistics departments in managing medical procurement
The Pharmacist is in charge of:
- Supporting the Logistics and Nut/Health departments in medical supplies procurement
- Supporting the Nut/Health HOD in assessing needs & requirements and preparing purchase lines for each item
- Supporting the Nut/Health HoD in making decisions on the choice of molecular substitutions as part of the procurement process.
- Supporting coordination in defining procurement frequency
- Supporting Log and Health Dept in analysis of emerging needs
- Ensure coordination with DRAP and relevant authorities as needed
- Supporting the Log HoD and the Nut/Health HoD in evaluating the local market and any possible emergency procurement
- Collecting information about suppliers
- Collecting information for any possible external audit of the local market
- Facilitating sourcing activities during procurement (selection of sources, etc.)
Mission 2: Improving quality in the management and use of medical products
The Pharmacist is in charge of:
- Ensuring/analysing data collection (stock, consumption) from the bases and from the Dispensation Sites, and inputting the data into the SFU Med or other Excel file.
- Analysing this data in order to optimise the management of drugs/medicines and medical equipment (needs assessment, cold chain, expiry dates, stock surplus/shortage, etc.)
- Ensuring the regular and appropriate use of management documents (stock sheets, delivery notes, computer tools, etc.)
- Working closely with the Nut and Health department to verify stock and consumption status against programme data (primary healthcare database) and assess the appropriateness of prescriptions.
- Being able to provide, in real time, all reliable stock data, consumption, use of drugs/medicines and health products for each project.
- Backing up all computer data at least once a month.
Mission 3: Maintaining the physical integrity of the Central Pharmacy
The Pharmacist is in charge of:
- Compliance with Good Storage Practices for medical products at ACF and Implementing partner level
- Spatial organisation of the Pharmacy stocks
- Physical integrity of the premises: security-protected entrances, no water damage, no cracks in the roof or walls, no rodents, etc.
- Hygiene of the premises: regular cleaning of floors and shelves, refrigerator maintenance, no food or sugary drinks, etc.
- Twice-daily monitoring of temperature and humidity during working days through relevant staff
- Ensuring that everything possible is done to combat factors leading to the damage of medical products
- Classification of products according to the rules recommended by AAH
- Ensuring compliance with special storage conditions required for certain specific products (cold chain, products considered to be narcotics)
Mission 4: Supporting the Logistics department in the technical supervision of the partner Pharmacy/Pharmacies
The Pharmacist is in charge of:
- The technical supervision of storage warehouses at partner level in order to analyse the Pharmacy Officer’s compliance with Good Storage Practices
- Providing recommendations
- Monitoring the compliance of these recommendations
- Ensuring that the AAH’s procedures and tools used by the partner programme and logistics teams are properly understood and applied.
- Providing technical support through necessary training on stock management
Mission 5: Improving technical capacity at programme level
The Pharmacist is in charge of:
- Providing technical support through training on stock management, rational use of medical products, critical analysis of consumption data
- Supporting the team of dispensers in pharmacy supervision
Mission 6: Supporting the Nut/Health HoD in proposal writing and donor reporting
The Pharmacist is in charge of:
- Providing technical support to the Nut/Health HoD in defining, quantifying and evaluating medical product needs in the framework of proposed donor projects
- Contributing to the preparation of donor reports specifically with respect to information relating to drugs/medicines on the mission.
Mission 7: Proactively support ACFs commitments to gender equality and child protection sensitivity
The Pharmacist is responsible for:
- Read and ensure a full understanding and promotion of ACFs Gender Minimum Standards & Child Protection Policies
- Implement all work related activities with a gender, inclusion and child protection lens, taking into account the different needs, concerns and ideas of our staff and beneficiaries
- Ensure and encourage the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities
- Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.
