- COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE
UN-WHO Islamabad is now searching for a Communications Associate to enroll in their crew.
Job Description: Communications Associate
The communications associate will work under the direct supervision of the Federal Communications Officer/Polio and overall take guidance from the WHO Polio Team Lead, as part of a cross-functional team in the Pakistan Polio Eradication (PEI) National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC):
- Provide communication support to the NEOC and its secretariat
o Drafting and/or editorial review of letters, minutes, briefing notes etc.
o Production of programmatic updates, including presentations, key messages and talking points
o Organizing of events/visits with external parties locally and where the polio programme is featured internationally
- Support to media and advocacy working group
o Attend and actively contribute during the weekly meetings
o Keep track of assigned tasks by the NEOC Coordinator, action points discussed during the working group meetings and facilitate timely follow-up by the team
o Provide (editorial) review of communication products produced by the working group
- Provide support for the development of communication materials for external relations
o Developing regular donor-facing products including monthly infographic, newsletter and brochures
o Identifying storylines and achievements for online and printed publications
o Preparing web stories for WHO Pakistan/polio, endpolio.pk and GPEI website
o Managing the process for the timely publication of materials with final approvals as per the agreed upon story calendar
o Support the procurement process of hiring external parties for the production of communication materials i.e photographers, videographers, designers and printers including drafting administrative documents and follow-up on payments
- Provide support to media engagement
o Support establishment of relationships with press including maintaining and updating database
o Prepare press releases for every campaign and as required
o Development of the quarterly media narrative brief for national and international audiences
o Respond to requests for information and arrange interviews, as delegated
o Provide input into training sessions for spokespersons for the programme and capacity building/sensitisation sessions for local media
o Organize and conduct media engagement capacity building/coordination meetings, as needed
o Provide inputs to briefing notes, question and answers and talking points, as necessary.
- Other activities as assigned by the supervisor
