The HANDS International District Dadu, District Larkana is currently seeking a Social Organizers to full fill the vacant position.

 Major Responsibilities of Social Organizers.

Key role-

  • Conduct sensitization at community level
  • Responsible for initiation of committees at district level, together with project officer

ü  Mobilize communities and develop working relations with community elders, local bodies elected representatives, LHW network, PPHI, education department at District, THQ DHQ Hospitals and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the project.

ü  To conduct consultative meetings on Inclusive Eye Health Services at health facilities, schools, field and in community.

ü  Mobilize health facilities, female workers and community to help in beneficiary / patient selection as per criteria in the project.

ü  Work as focal point to receive complaints from the communities, resolve complaint and document closure of complaint.

ü  Organize and facilitate the survey(s) conducted during the project and also supervise the teams / enumerators.

ü  Facilitate in establishing linkages with major stakeholders in the project intervention area like, health, education and social welfare department.

ü  Facilitate in arranging distribution activities of the Project submit work plans, prepare schedules, travel plans & activity reports, logbooks of vehicle.

ü  Participate in project related meetings / trainings / workshops, assist programme officer in arranging field logistics and other activities & ensure documentation of all related activities in soft & hard form.

ü  Facilitate Optometrists and Programme Officer in capturing success stories and key learning depicting impact of the project activities and assist to loop closure through phone calls and other means.

ü  Initiate / support LHWs / LHVs / teachers for achieving screening targets / UC wise.

ü  Reporting on all activities in soft and hard forms and to submit timely

Key responsibilities of Social Organizers:

Key areas of responsibility are:

  • Will build up working relationship with all stakeholders in addition to working with female workers, in health facilities, community and civil society networks in project areas and will work as professional member of Project Team.
  • Will have close liaison with Government Departments (Health, Education, PPHI, Police & other departments & Local Government…) in the project intervention areas.
  • Will provide facilitation to conduct survey(s) related to eye health in district / other districts and facilitate the teams involved for smooth implementation of project (Logistics, Travel plans, Vehicle management etc…).
  • Will work with and facilitate project team(s) working in project / Other districts, through logistics management, travel plans, workshop / activity plans, approved working schedules and trouble shoot the field related problems during the project and execute project activities from THQ and DHQ hospitals.
  • Organize venues for outreach screenings and communicate what the screening will be about / enough information about the project / IEH and IE Services.
  • Will assist in Eye Screening Activities in Health Facilities / School screening and have close liaison with LHVs, Teachers, MOs, Optometrists, other staff related to Project.
  • Counseling, motivating and confidence building of community members with refractive errors and other eye related eye diseases and their families to follow treatments and compliance.
  • Identification of suitable patients for documenting impact of interventions and assisting staff in preparation of case studies / documentaries for project.
  • Travel independently in different areas of the country for planning, monitoring and management of the project related activities and flexible to work long extended hours.
  • Will be the focal point to receive complaints from the communities, resolve complaint and document closure of complaint(s)
  • Be responsible for Vehicle, maintaining vehicle log book and ensure efficient and professional use of vehicle in the field (coordination with THQ Hospital Talagang Authorities)
  • Responsible for Eye Equipment placed in Health Facilities District Chakwal. Be aware of the barriers for the persons with disabilities accessing services and close liaison with DPOs to overcome these barriers.
  • Will support in managing all aspects of the project cycle including planning, implementation and monitoring & evaluation of the project.
  • Any other duty assigned by Programme officer of the relevant District.

Specific skills/Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of English Language (Verbal, Written), understanding and speaking of Local languages.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and manage conflict.
  • Creative, open-minded, flexible, self-learner Honest and feels accountable towards the communities the project is implemented for.
