The Penny Appeal International Islamabad, Rawalpindi is currently seeking a Programme Development, Research and Reporting Officer to full fill the vacant position.

JOB Description: Programme Development, Research and Reporting Officer

 The Programme officer will provide relevant expert services to the Programme development and quality assurance Unit. She/He will write, edit, and proofread donors, partners, internal reports, and proposal development.

 Functional Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Manager of Programme Development and Quality Assurance, and in close coordination with the Head of Programme, s/he shall be responsible for performing the following duties:

Reporting, Research and Proposal Writing

  1. Regularly track donor, potential donor, and umbrella websites for Requests for Applications (RFAs) and proposal submission opportunities for Penny Appeal core competency areas and the country’s geographic areas in which Penny Appeal has a presence
  2. Work with program M&E staff to produce high-quality donor and internal reports, proposals and other documents as requested.  Edit the texts, liaise with staff to check information and format the documents per Donor and/or Organization guidelines.
  3. Support program teams in finalizing sub-awards progress reports, including baseline and final narrative reports.
  4. Provide editorial support to program team and partner, ensuring effective and timely dissemination of reports in line with program reporting schedule and quality expectations;
  5. Assist in need assessment /RNAs data collection and other research for organization and draft situational reports in consultation with the team
  6. Support M&E colleagues in the field and HQ in gathering, tracking and reporting data
  7. Provide quality assurance, including data verification, on all reports and information products produced by project teams by editing and consolidating all reports for external and internal distribution
  8. Conduct background research on proposal opportunities to determine Penny Appeal’s competitiveness and strategic positioning
  9. Assist in the collection and analysis of information necessary for innovative and responsive proposals the organization has decided to pursue
  10. Assist in proposal writing, drafting, editing, and ensuring final production of the competitive proposal for submission to the donor; use writing skills to transform technical content and conceptual design into polished final proposals that are responsive to donor guidelines
  11. Assist in Developing and utilizing tools, templates and work processes that result in streamlined and efficient proposal development and teamwork.
  12. Work as a team member to undertake whatever is necessary to complete high-quality and competitive project designs and proposals

Required Qualification:

1.       Minimum qualifications – Master’s degree in social sciences.

2.       Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and good knowledge of MS Publisher and spreadsheets is desirable

  Required Experiences and Skills

1.       Three to Four years of proven experience with National and International NGOs

2.       Ability to write clear, concise, and articulate program reports and proposal writing materials with minimal oversight and editing.

3.       At least three years of experience in, donor reporting and research in relation to INGOs/humanitarian sector.

4.       Proven experience of providing humanitarian information management and reporting during Organization onset humanitarian crises, including surveying and monitoring key information networks, developing and utilizing multiple sources to provide information, and developing information products as appropriate to different audiences.

5.       Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and tasks efficiently;

6.       Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team in a diverse environment;

7.       Commitment to the Organization’s organizational goals and mission;

8.       Previous experience/knowledge of monitoring and evaluation is desirable but not mandatory

9.       Basic understanding of humanitarian issues in Pakistan.

10.    Commitment to humanitarian principles and actions.

11.    Competency in survey and statistical analysis a plus.

12.    Familiarity with the international development community and donor solicitation processes (Government, UN and other donor agencies)
