The Medecins Sans Frontieres-MSF Chaman is currently seeking a Lady Health Visitor to full fill the vacant position.
Job Description:Lady Health Visitor
Maternity, Birthing/delivery unit:
Provide quality ANC/ PNC/ FP and PLW Nut consultations and Management
Providing maternity care, treatment, and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, with Guidelines and protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions applied, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.
Performing vaginal examinations, taking and recording vital signs during early labor, active labor and the postpartum period, auscultation of fetal heart during first and second stages as per MSF protocol, and ensuring all information is accurately recorded.
Conducting safe deliveries according to the protocols, including performing and suturing of episiotomy. Perform complicated delivery safely, eg: breech, twins and shoulder dystocia under the direct supervision of the medical officer/ LHV Supervisor. Attends cesarean / Sections to monitor and support the woman, receive the baby and initiate resuscitation when required in Theater and transfer of the baby to Nursery.
Perform artificial rupture of membranes and induction of labour if indicted, suturing of episiotomy and second degree vaginal perineal tears
To assist Specialist/ Maternity Supervisor in the management of obstetric emergencies and complicated deliveries.
Postnatal care & New Born Unit (NBU):
Responsible for Post Partum period monitoring and care, and management of post partum complication under supervision of the specialist doctors.
Responsible for routine nursing care for mothers and neonates including first treatment after birth, assistance of neonatal resuscitation and routine care in the unit.
Receiving baby at the cesarean section in Theater, providing basic resuscitation and being familiar with aseptic technique, performing the first examination of the infant and providing the first treatment.
Monitoring/recording of postpartum infection, blood loss, vital signs, uterus, bladder care and general well-being in the immediate postpartum period for mother and neonate. Observation and documentation of vital signs, color, and urine output on newborn observation chart.
Health promotion – postnatal care, assistance with breastfeeding etc.
Carrying out a newborn check within first 24 hrs of birth including birth weight
Regular observation of the baby to detect any abnormal conditions i.e., infection, sepsis, hypoglycemia, and hyperthermia.
Administration of routine vaccinations within first 24 hours
Care and observation of a small or sick baby as per MSF protocols and Timely referral to NICU.
Documentation of antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care in nursing notes.
Other/Triage/IPD:
Care of patients admitted in IPD ensuring close monitoring, administration of treatment and ensuring other procedures are performed according to the Guidelines.
In Triage take vital signs, assess patient status/medical history and closely monitor a patient’s condition.
Educate patients and care takers about COVID and prescreen/pritotize patient that needs immediate medical attention
Participating in the nursing meeting for exchanging of information on the state of the patients and running of the program.
Pre- disinfection and Sending of medical materials to be sterilized and recuperates them from sterilization department.
Prepares & pass IV lines/fluids, administers infusions, take IV blood samples under supervision of doctor/ LHV supervisor
Follow cleaning and maintenance of medical items with biomedical technician.
